Life You Want Tour
Last weekend was pretty much A-MAZ-ING! Now, I know we tend to overuse that word these days but after attending Oprah’s Life You Want Tour in Atlanta, that is no exaggeration. It was nothing short of a magical, inspirational, and motivational experience that enlivened my spirit. To cap it all of, it was an experience that I was able to share with my mother. And a few girlfriends
The eight city tour kicked off in Atlanta last Friday and it was pretty much the best money I have spent in a long, long time. Oprah started the weekend event with her introduction Friday night when she came out in all of her fabulosity.
She challenged us to turn up the volume in your life, take your glory and run with it and to get still and know who’s in charge. Yes, I took copious notes because I knew this was gonna be good. She shared personal experiences from her childhood and young adulthood, sharing a clip from The Color Purple which the entire audience quoted. She even gave us a physics lesson and reminded us that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. So what you put out there, best believe you are going to get it back. My favorites were her asking us to look at our lives and see if we were moving in the direction of love (respect, kindness, trust) or fear (anxiety, depression, hopelessness). She reminded us that everyday we get another chance at love because failure is life at its most poignant, pushing us in the right direction. Everything you’ve been through, will help you get through.
So needless to say, I did not mind having to be back at the arena early Saturday morning after finishing up around 10pm on Friday night. We even made it to OTown before the events of Saturday got started. What is OTown…a pop-up experience with the sponsors of the tour sharing various experiences to amplify the weekend. Check out a few pics…
the closest I got to taking pictures with Lady O!
Saturday lived up to its promise of more tools to improve your thoughts to live the Life You Want. Oprah introduced her “trailblazers” and completed exercises in the workbook in between each presenter. We started with meditation with Deepak Chopra who shared with us the 7 laws of spiritual success. Then Elizabeth Gilbert talked about the quest of transformation. New to me, Rob Bell taught us that everything is a miracle and the life you want begins by embracing the life you have. We took a break for lunch…shameless photo op
The O Team thought of everything! Because when we returned, we were introduced to SoulCycle and the whole audience participated in a rousing and invogorating Soul15 workout. Let me tell you, spin is not my thing, but the SoulCycle instructor, Angela Davis, had me feeling like I could conquer the world and even though she was motivating the whole audience, I felt like she really believed it and saw it in Me! I immediately looked up SoulCycle for my next trip to LA since it has not made its way to Atlanta yet 😦
After our workout came superstar Iyanla Vanzant. She was phenomenal, relatable and again, inspiring. She told us that when you live life with integrity (what you think, say, feel and do are all in alignment) life shows up! We are responsible for training our thoughts and we have to control the negative thoughts that show up like humping dogs (her fitting analogy, not mine)
After Oprah brought the trailblazers out for a small Q&A, she wrapped things up and sent us with our final assignment. Reflect on what we learned and draw our vision for our new life on Sunday. She acknowledged that we had gained a lot of information but focus on one thing at a time, and make a commitment.
So you see, it was truly an amazing experience! If the tour is coming to a city near you, I would highly, highly recommend it!
