Resto Spotlight: Dinette LA
Simply stated…this is what breakfast dreams in LA are made of. A simple and delicious combination of desired staples (waffles, omelettes) and current trends (breakfast pizzas and avocado toasts).
All tucked away on a very nondescript block next to the 99 cents store. For starters, you order your meal at this cute little walk-up only window. If you’re early or lucky enough, there will be an open table…outdoor seating only, a February option only made possible if dining in LA or some small island. The hubby wasn’t a big fan of this since it was a mini dog park this particular Saturday morning, but he survived. As you wait for them to call your name, be careful to not drool on yourself while you’re eyeing the baked treats selection of cookies, tarts, and biscuits in the window. Look….
and even more…
This place made it to the top of my “must eat” list because of all the delectable pictures on instagram. The place has been oh so very popular since it’s opening just a few months ago. And for good reason. The waffle with a poached egg and bacon has been the most photographed. Although I didn’t get the popular savory waffle, the waffle with strawberries and cream, the breakfast pizza and the avocado toast were all well worth it.
I have to take a minute to discuss the avocado toast though. The creamy chunks of avocado were brightened with the squeeze of lemon juice and sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Adding the lemon juice was a new but very nice touch. So much so, that I’ve been recreating it at home ever since. Yum-mo..you must try it. Make sure you use some good bread too!
If you’re in the LA area…Echo Park to be more specific, make sure you visit Dinette. I have a feeling I’ll be a repeat customer during my visits home!
