Upshur Street Books

Reason 101 of why I love Summer. . .New discoveries in the City!! The summer certainly lends itself to stepping out to find new, neighborhood treasures. D.C. certainly has become a city of bustling new restaurants and hip shops! Case and point, Upshur Street Books! Located on the quaint northwest street, Upshur (shout out to Knock-out; we had some good times on this street for sure) has become a haven for neighborhood hipsters, in the ever growing Petworth neighborhood, which is why my hip crew decided to set forth and explore! The journey began here at Slim’s Diner, which was yummy and a much, welcomed addition to the neighborhood-we will most definitely be spending lots of time there!  While we waited, we hit the pavement to check out what was new and good on the block! First stop-Upshur Street Books! A very cute and cozy bookstore with lots of character! Ashley was so sweet and easy to talk to. While I chatted her up about morning sing-a-longs for the kids and future magazine additions, my littles zoned out in the back of the shop with the big-hearted dinosaur and classic train table! I think we found our summer hangout and we left with a couple of great books, too!

The discoveries didn’t stop there. Here are a few more treasures on the block, offering up dining with a twist, perfect meeting spots for dinner and bookclubs (hello ladybugs), pop up crab shacks, pizza-pizza, and fun frocks, all of which we will most certainly be checking out real soon!
